Meditation So many people have a hard time with meditation .they give up on it. They have been told that to be sucessful in meditation, they must still their thoughts. This is not always possible, especially if you are of an active mind. The mind is a fascinating machine. It makes thousands of calculations, making thousands of decisions a minute. It is used to multitasking like no other. So to try to still an active mind for some is almost impossible. But, we can focus our mind, channel its thoughts forward, flowing ever forward. In this way we can allow our mind to move to the place it needs to be. In meditation we calm the mind and spirit , opening ourselves to the sigh of the universe, to hear a softly spoken suggestion. This time allows our active mind to rest, allows our subconscious mind to surface. It allows the universe to deliver any guidance we need at this particular time. So having this in mind, let's walk thru this process of what i call meditation for an active mind. When I meditate, I prefer to sit comfortably, a recliner works well for this. You can lay down and meditate, but you are more prone to fall asleep that way. So sit or lay comfortably, arms and legs are not to be crossed, allowing for good flow. Loose clothing, nothing restrictive, comfort is important here. Head should be elevated slightly if lying down.You should be comfortable in your enviroment. So pick a nice safe calm spot, safe from distractions. If needed ,you may cover with a blanket. Start this like all things , with proper breathing. straighten your spine a bit, breath in slowly through your nose, breathing out slowly through your mouth. Nice even measured breaths; counting from 1 to 4 helps. Slowly in 1. 2. 3. 4, out thru mouth 1, 2, 3, 4. Proper breathing is necesarry for this and other magickal workings. So slowly, breathing regularly, allow your body to loosen . Feel your self sink into the bed or chair slowly. Always it is helpful to envision your self shielded. Not that meditation is a danger, because it is not. But I believe we should never leave our selves open to anything, so shielding is necesarry to me. A nice mild shield is sufficent. So as you lay or sit comfortable picture in your mind's eye that you are surrounded totally by a pure soft glowing white light. A very powerful , warm light, wrapped all around you, glowing outward. Yo uare completely surrounded by this light, it is soft pulsing, very warm, refreshing light. know that nothing will enter through this shield, only love passes freely. Sit and think , picture this in your mind as you relax , breathing slowly in and out. As yo u do this feel your feet relax, allow all tension in th muscles to release, as this occurs move slowly ,progressively upward, thru your legs, breathing evenly, feeling the tension leavin g you, knowing you are in a safe place, just floating, allowing your mind to wander freely at this point.Move slowly upward thru your body , relaxing it, breathing slowly, in and out. Release all tension, all worry, allowing all thoughts to flow forward, always moving, do not linger on any one thought long. Recognize each one and move on, allowin them to flow like water in a river. The water flows over and around all obstacles in the river bed, it never ceases, always flowing forward, not stopping, not lingering, but constantly moving, surging forward. This is very important , by doing this exercise , you are channeling the mind toward one direction, albeit in a unorthodox way. The thoughts are not stopping, you are not stilling the mind, but we are directing it forward, always flowing forward. Expanding this way our active mind can slip back and the subcionscious mind can come forward with the thoughts, moving our mind to what we need to see or hear. Some times there is no message from the Universe, at these times, our mind is only seeking peace, a respite from the daily grind. Allow this, Our minds get over burdened, we stress, stress can make us ill. It weakens the spirit. Some times we need to step away from the ordinary. We need to allow our minds to float freely, relaxing,. This will calm the active mind ,soothing the spirit. Most meditation is for 30 minutes or less standard. Some allow more, some less. 15 minutes of this exercise and you will feel a difference thru your day. To take a break, step out side of the ordinary ,for just a few minutes, shifts our consciousness higher. It shifts us to our higher self. It opens us to growth. Growth is vital to every thing.
